Curio Bay to Invercargill to Bluff to out in the boon docks🤪🤪
What a night. Sometimes shortly after midnight we wake up and our camper van is being shaken by strong wind. And this lasts for the whole night. Between the wind we heard the ocean roaring. It is very hard to sleep like this!
All day long it was super windy and rainy on and off.
In Invercargill we did some food shopping and visited some beautiful old buildings. The girl at the gas station told us that in Invercargill all four seasons can happen in a single day. Hence you never really know what to wear.
We drove all the way down to the most southern town, Bluff. When we drive up to the look out, the wind rips the car door out of Peter’s hand and slams it open. We are afraid that we could not close it anymore.
Bluff is famous for its big Bluff Oysters from March thru April. They cannot keep up with the demand all over New Zealand. I tried one but ask for one that was battered. It is delicious. We also eat fresh blue cod.
We make a brief stop at the oldest suspension bridge in Clifdon. It was built in 1899.
We spend the night on a gravel area. Within one hour we are joined by two more campers.
