Okahune to Taumarunui to Stratford
I wake up at 7:30 am to some patches of blue sky and some sunshine. I wake up Peter and hope we can drive up the most southern volcano to the ski village. We are on the road quickly but within half an hour driving towards the ski village, the clouds come and we are surrounded by fog. We abandon our trip. Here is a picture once we leave the fog.
We hope for better weather once we get to the Egmont National Park with Mount Taranaki.
This is a famous train viaduct which finally opened the central area of the North Island to trade and tourism.
We continue our journey on the Forgotten Highway from Taumarunui to Stratford. It is really forgotten. Very desolate and sparsely populated.
