Rotorua to Taupo

We spend the morning exploring Rotorua. We wander around in the Government Gardens with its beautiful flowers.

In between we smell the sulphur which accompanies the steam coming out of the earth. Sometimes we see small bubbling water pools, other times we see bubbling mud pools.

All day day along the road from Rotorua to Taupō we see steam coming out of the earth. Just outside of Taupo we see a lot of pipes where Taupo is collecting the heat coming out of the earth.

Ourselves, we make a stop at one of the free thermal pools where the water is flowing warm right out of the mountain.
