Wellington to Cape Palliser to Carterton

We drive on top of Mt. Victoria where we have a super view of Wellington. Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and the windiest city in the Southern Hemisphere.

As usual we drive cross country. The city is quickly behind us and we drive toward the Cape Palliser light house. Once we reach the coast again our trip becomes quite adventurous. Just take a look at the washed out road sections.

In Palliser there are bulldozer and tractors in front of the boats. I guess that is the quickest and easiest way to pull the fishing boats out of the quite rough ocean.

Shortly before we reach the lighthouse, we see a colony of seals laying around in the grass and on the rocks. The mothers are making sort of a ring on the outside so they can protect the babies which are playing with each other.

We are climbing up to the lighthouse. 250 steps up and therefore 250 back down again?!???? Of course it had to rain....

We got to observe how four dogs kept a whole herd of sheep under control and directed them to their new grazing area. Amazing.
