We have to get up at 5:45 am as we have booked a tour to the outer Great Barrier Reef.

We drive almost 60 km out into the ocean before the boat stops at the reef. They offer scuba diving lessons and Peter tried to scuba dive.

Unfortunately he wasn't able to equalize the pressure in his ears. So he went snorkeling too. We all have to wear suits because of the jellyfish. If they sting you, excruciating pain.

It was absolutely amazing. We saw beautiful fish and corals. We spend hours swimming on the reef. In between we enjoy a delicious lunch.

One of the guides on the boat is from Switzerland!! We meet a lot of very nice people from all over the world. On the way back we all enjoy a glass of wine and some cheeses.

Once back in Cairns we drive south to our campground in Etty Bay. A beautiful spot right on the beach. We are welcomed by cassowary birds. They can be very fresh and steal your food right from the table.
