Bulahdelah to Nelson Bay to Sydney

We decide to make a detour to Nelson Bay before heading to Sydney. We did not regret it. At 10:30 we arrive at Nelson Bay and decide to stop for a few hours and go to the beach. Ahhh how beautiful, warm and refreshing the ocean is!!

Before we continue our trip to Sydney we drive to the Gan Gan Lookout at the Nelson Bay. Again awesome views from up there.

When we continue our trip, we start to smell smoke. Yesterday we had thought (wrongly) that it was raining in the distance. Now we know it was smoke that we observed. It was leery to realize that there was a wildfire right along the highway. No worry by the time we came by the fire fighters had it under control!!

It takes us a little over two hours to reach Sydney. I find a campground outside in the suburbs. During the drive to Sydney the thermometer in the car shows an outside temperature of 39 degrees Celsius. (102.2 Fahrenheit). I guess we are visiting Sydney during yet another heatwave!!
