Timaru to Lake Tepako

We spent last night on a gravel spot close to the ocean. We slept well after we closed all the windows and roof windows because it was very windy.

After filling up our gas, we are now on the road to Lake Tepako. Again, we leave the main road and travel cross country. In the distance we can see the Southern Alps. There is nobody on this road besides us. We are driving thru the Totaro Valley. We see lots of cows, sheep and elks. As soon as we get back on the main road, there is a lot of traffic. We see a lot of campervans and caravans. Most of the tourists seem to be from Europe and the USA.

Without realizing it, we stop at the famous Fairlie Bakehouse and get ourselves some coffee and sweets and two of their famous pies. The locals and tourist are standing in long lines.

Before l get back into the camper, I spot a fruit stand, and they have my favorite, apricots I. I buy one kilo for the road🤪🤪🤪

We continue our trip to Lake Tepako where we find a camping spot for the next two nights. Since the weather forecasts talks of overcast, we decide to drive to Lake Pukaki so we can see the highest mountain of New Zealand, Mt. Cook. We are not disappointed as you can see in the picture below.
